This box is similar to the packaging of the previous mouse. It’s a compact, stylish, and minimalistic-looking box. On the front, you’ll see a picture of the DM6 Holey Trio itself. The background features a hexagon-style pattern yet again, but its opacity is lower this time around. 

You can pull on the top portion of the box to reveal the mouse inside, neatly surrounded by soft packaging. You’ll then be greeted by the braided USB cable, RF dongle, a USB-A to USB-C adapter, and some paperwork. That’s about it for the accessories. Now, let’s see what’s new with this mouse.

Comparing the DM6 Holey Series

It would be hard to write this review without drawing a comparison between the mice in the DM6 Holey Series. After all, the wireless version is more of an iterative upgrade to the same mouse we here at Appuals know and love. One of our editors still uses the DM6 Holey S nearly every day. 

Let’s take a look at some quick specs between the mice.

As you can see for yourself, all three mice are relatively the same in terms of specs. Due to its wireless nature, the Holey Duo weighs 79, while the DM6 Holey Trio weighs 81g. All of these mice are particularly lightweight, but the Holey S is significantly lighter and you can tell the difference.

Apart from that, all three feature the same Huano buttons, the same polling rate, and relatively the same liftoff distance. Furthermore, the side switches also feel about the same on the Holey S and Holey Trio. We did not receive the Holey Duo for review but seeing as it’s the same mouse as the Trio but with a different sensor, that’s not an issue.

So, the choice is quite simple. If you want a wired mouse with an ergonomic shape, go with the DM6 Holey S. If you need something wired, you should go with the DM6 Holey Duo or Trio.

Apart from the difference in sensors, the Trio features a Bluetooth connection in tandem with the RF receiver, while the Duo only has the RF receiver. Both are great options, depending on what you need.

Design and Construction

With the DM6 Holy Trio, we see the return of the highly comfortable ergonomic shape that was a highlight of the wired version. We’ll get to that later, let’s talk about the design and build quality first. In terms of aesthetics, this is quite a decent-looking mouse. Sure, it is visually the same as other mice with the honeycomb cutout design.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing, since that’s what gives this wireless mouse its lightweight nature. Of course, personal preference comes into play when we talk about design, but no one would mind the look of this mouse. The stealthy black coating paired with tasteful RGB lighting and the minimal logo at the top give it an understated look.

Furthermore, the uniformity of the honeycomb pattern is quite decent all around. It’s cut in half in some places due to a space restriction, but looks great, nonetheless. At the top, a tiny “DM” logo is stamped with a white font. The left side of the mouse is slightly raised than the right one. That quality is what gives this mouse an ergonomic shape.

You’ll find the usual side buttons on the left side, a DPI button below the scroll wheel, and RGB lighting that shines through that honeycomb pattern. It’s the perfect blend of both form and function. Sure, it is a lightweight mouse, but the materials are of high quality.

It’s great to see that Dream Machines is keeping up with a high standard of build quality.

Ergonomics, Shape, and Comfort

We’ve already talked about this shape in great detail during our DM6 Holey S review. As mentioned before, one of our editors still uses that mouse, just because of the comfort. It’s an ergonomic design, but one that has a safer shape than something like the Logitech G703. Don’t get me wrong, the latter has an excellent shape in its own right, but it’s not one that everyone will enjoy.

Sure, you can say that about almost any mouse on the market. For example, fans of ambidextrous mice will find it hard to adapt to an ergonomic shape. Still, with all of that said, this shape does not take much to get used to. This is because the hump and the raise of the left side of the mouse are not as aggressive as other ergonomic mice.

Now, this mouse is quite large, which won’t be a problem for people with medium-large hands. Even then, the ergonomics are good enough that even people with small hands adapt sooner rather than later. As someone with medium-large hands who uses a claw grip, this mouse feels right at home.

The palm grip feels good here as well. Some people might be able to use this with a fingertip grip, but since this is a bigger mouse, your mileage may vary. It is worth mentioning that this mouse is quite lightweight at about 81g. For a wireless gaming mouse, that’s not bad at all.

Moving on, the thumb rest area of this mouse also feels quite comfortable. It is in just the perfect position and fortunately, the honeycomb pattern does not interfere with the comfort. To sum it up, the mouse feels right in the hand, even if it does feature that honeycomb pattern. 

This is likely because the honeycomb pattern has a uniform feel to it. No area of this mouse creaks or has a rough feel to it. The DM6 Trio gets an A+ in terms of the finishing and materials. 

Finally, this mouse features a matte texture, and we’re aware that many people prefer that over a glossy finish. Of course, your preferences might be different. It is important to note that this surface does pick up fingerprints easily. Take good care of it though and it should not be an issue. 

The Return of Huano Switches

Lightweight gaming mice have been around for quite a while now, and that trend is here to stay. After all, once you aim with a lightweight mouse, it is hard to go back. Still, we’re entering that stage where the market is getting a bit stagnant again. Now, everyone is making lightweight gaming mice, and even wireless lightweight mice are common now.

At the time, the DM6 Holey S stood out to us thanks to its Huano buttons. After getting the DM6 Holey Trio in our hands, it was a treat to go back to this experience again. These crisp Huano switches set it apart from other lightweight wireless mice.

Most mice use Omron switches for the primary left and right buttons. These are the standard mechanical switches that you are likely familiar with. Huano switches are different since they feel sharper and crisper. They are utterly satisfying and still feature a lifetime of 20 million clicks.

Does It Make a Difference?

However, this is more than a gimmick, as these switches might give you an advantage. The left button requires more actuation force, making it great for FPS games. It feels tactile and the balance here is phenomenal. The switches feel comfortable but are more rigid than Omron switches. It’s hard to say which is better since they are different switches entirely.

Some gamers might find that they enjoy Huano switches more than Omron. That’s all the more reason to give this wireless gaming mouse a shot. 

Another interesting aspect is the fact that the right button feels even sharper than the left. It requires a bit more actuation force too, which is fascinating. This means you won’t accidentally open the scope or trigger other actions with the button. 

To sum it up, these Huano switches feel great. They are tactile, sharp, and precise. If you want to improve your game in a competitive shooter and have not tried Huano switches yet, give this mouse a shot.

Mouse Feet, Scroll Wheel, and Cable

It is great to have a mouse with standout features such as Huano buttons, wireless connectivity, and a lightweight shape. However, if you don’t nail the fundamentals, then there’s no reason for buyers to get that mouse. Fortunately, Dream Machines is not one to forget about the basics. We’ve already talked about the buttons, so let’s discuss the cable now.

In 2022, it is standard to use a lightweight paracord-style cable when you’re crafting a gaming mouse. This also applies to wireless gaming mice, as this is the norm now. We’re happy to report that the DM6 Holey Trio lives up to that standard. Dream Machines calls their cable a “shoelace cable”, and it’s very lightweight.

A good mouse cable is one that you barely notice. It should not get in your way when gaming, and that is exactly the case here. The cable drag is minimal and not noticeable at all with this mouse, and the lightweight design means it stays out of your way. Considering this is primarily a wireless mouse, it’s great that they did not cheap out on the cable.

Some manufacturers tend to use lower-quality scroll wheels to cut corners, especially with cheaper mice. Thankfully, that is not the case here. The scroll wheel has well-defined steps, feels smooth, and works great for gaming and general use. 

Finally, this mouse uses black PTFE feet instead of the smoother white feet we see on other mice. While the latter is usually better, it’s not too much of an issue here. The mouse still glides quite well, and most people won’t notice the difference. However, we still would have liked to see an upgrade in this department.

Wireless Connectivity and Battery Life

Both of these aspects are important when you’re talking about a wireless gaming mouse. First, let’s talk about wireless connectivity. Wireless mice have come a long way, and that’s evident with the DM6 Holey Trio. You won’t notice any latency issues or dips in performance while gaming with this mouse. Of course, that is if you are using the RF dongle.

The Bluetooth connection is decent, but we would not recommend that for gaming. While it worked well in our testing, Bluetooth is known to have a myriad of issues, especially with Windows 10. It’s fine for everyday use, but for gaming, you should stick with the RF connection. Of course, you could always plug in the cable if you’re worried too much about latency.

In terms of battery life, this mouse delivers in that department well enough. It’s rated for around 72 hours of use, and our testing falls in line with that claim. That endurance is good enough for a wireless gaming mouse, and you may only find yourself charging it once a week.

Of course, this highly depends on how often you are gaming with the mouse. Still, most people should be fine with the battery life. Furthermore, you can plug the cable into the mouse and use it while it charges, so it’s less of an issue.

Sensor & Gaming Performance

The DM6 Holey Trio uses the Pixart PMW 3370 sensor. You’ll find this sensor in a lot of recent high-end gaming mice. Needless to say, the performance is excellent here. Keep in mind that the DM6 Holey Duo uses a different sensor, the PMW 3335. Both are excellent and that goes to show that the sensor itself isn’t the most important part these days.

Don’t get me wrong, a good sensor is more important, but you could make the argument that mouse shape and comfort are just as significant, if not more. After all, what’s the point of a great sensor if the mouse feels uncomfortable?

Fortunately, most people will feel quite comfortable with the DM6 Holey Trio. If your previous mouse featured an ergonomic shape, you will be one happy customer. It glides well on the mousepad, the tracking is precise and accurate, and the Huano switches make it great for FPS games. 

To sum it up, we have no complaints in terms of gaming performance here. The mouse performs as expected, and competitive players can rejoice as they have another great wireless option to pick from. 

Software Features

When we originally reviewed the DM6 Holey S, Dream Machines had no working software. It turned out that it wasn’t too much of an issue, since the mouse was designed in a way that it worked well without software.

You can change the DPI from the press of a button, change the polling rate from the buttons at the bottom of the mouse, and even turn off the LED lights. That was the case for the DM6 Holey S and remains true with the DM6 Trio. 

However, now Dream Machines has released software for most of their mice, including the one we’re reviewing today. While you can change the usual settings such as RGB lighting, DPI, and polling rate, there’s a lot more to play around with here.

For example, you change the lift off distance, pointer speed, double click speed or the scrolling speed. Furthermore, you can set macros to different buttons, and customize shortcuts. The software is not the slickest looking application out there, but it stays out of your way when not in use.

It is simple, buggy, and works well enough. There’s not much more to ask for in terms of software or features.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the DM6 Trio is an excellent wireless gaming mouse. We have no real qualms with the performance or other major aspects, so that’s already a win in our books. The ergonomic shape means that most right-handed people will find this mouse to be quite comfortable. While ambidextrous fans might feel a bit left out, this mouse uses a safe shape and it’s worth giving it a shot.

Of course, the standout features are the Huano switches, excellent cable, and 3-in-1 connectivity. There are a lot of wireless gaming mice out there, and it is high praise to say that this is one of the best. The only issue with this mouse is the fact that there are mice out there that are similarly priced to this. Natually, some people might gravitate towards those brands.

That comes down to personal preference at the end of the day. For the mouse itself, we can safely say that it nails the basics and exceeds in almost every area that makes a good wireless gaming mouse.

Dream Machines is another company among these new players. It’s a Polish company that is ready to take on emerging markets including some parts of Europe and Asia. At Appuals, we feel it is important to get the word out about these underrated companies. Competition is always good for the consumer after all. 

So, today we are doing a review of the Dream Machines DM7 Switch Duo. This is a wireless gaming mouse with a couple of tricks up its sleeve. The DM7 Switch Duo features a comfortable shape, simple and intuitive software, and excellent buttons.

You’ll find out what else this mouse has to offer in this in-depth review. 

DM7 Switch Duo – A Quick Overview

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of this review, you need to know what you are in for with this mouse. So, this mouse gives itself away with its naming convention, especially the “Switch Duo” part of the name.

The latter part, Duo, indicates that this is a wireless mouse that is functional in both wireless and wired modes. It comes with a high-quality USB-C cable in the box after all. As for the “Switch” part of the name, that is a different story.

This is a modular mouse, meaning it’s easy to disassemble. You can take off the area around the main left and right buttons to reveal a modular mechanism underneath. If you haven’t guessed already, this mouse has hot-swappable switches. 

We’ll go over later why that’s important, and how the mechanism works. For now, just keep that information in mind while reading this review.

Packaging and Box Contents

There’s a lot of ground to cover with this innovative mouse from Dream Machines. So, the unboxing is a good place to start. For the most part, the unboxing experience is quite simple. The box is a bit big, but it’s certainly stylish thanks to the blue/purple theme it has going on.

On the front, you can see a picture of the DM7 Switch Duo itself, branding on the lower-right corner, and of course, the name at the top. The sides of the box feature some simple branding, and the back tells you about some of the standout features. 

Inside the box, you’ll be greeted by some paperwork that explains the hot-swappable mechanism. Apart from that, there’s the mouse itself, a high-quality paracord-like cable, and some extra mouse skates. Dream Machines also included some extra mouse switches for us, but these are sold separately on the site.

DreamPad Rough Control Mousepad – Quick Review

Dream Machines also provided us with their DreamPad Rough Control mousepad. Instead of dedicating an in-depth review to it, we’ll quickly go over the mousepad here. It’s a medium-sized mousepad that is 17.7-inches wide and 15.7-inches tall. The thickness of this mousepad is 0.15-inches, so it ends up feeling quite comfortable.

It features flat stitching on the edges so that the mousepad does not dig into your palms. The bottom of the mouse has an elastic coating, so it grips the surface quite well. This mousepad will not move around at all. Finally, the main star of the show here is the rough surface. 

If you haven’t used a mousepad with a rough/grainy surface before, this will feel quite strange to you at first. However, once you get used to it you start to realize that this surface provides better control and precise movements. It is designed for speed and control, even if it does not look like it at first.

Overall, this is an excellent high-quality mousepad. It pairs well with the DM7 Switch Duo, and competitive players will appreciate it more than others. 

DM7 Switch Duo – Design and Build Quality

The design and overall quality of construction with this mouse are top-notch. It’s an ambidextrous mouse but only features buttons on the left side. We’ll talk about ergonomics and comfort later on. For now, let’s do a quick overview of the design.

In terms of aesthetics, there’s not a whole lot going on here. Apart from the distinct shape and hot-swappable design, the DM7 Switch Duo keeps it simple. Unlike the DM6 Holey S that we previously reviewed, this one does not feature a honeycomb design. 

At the bottom of the mouse, you’ll find a DPI button in the middle so you can quickly change it on the fly. The mouse features six DPI stages, from 400 to 19000. Beneath the DPI switch you’ll find the Pixart 3370 sensor, the on-off switch below that, and a neat compartment where the USB dongle tucks in. 

In terms of build quality, the mouse feels solid. None of the buttons have that “squeak” to them that we see with cheaper mice. The mouse uses a matte black coating all-around, which feels smooth to the touch. Other than that, the mouse also features two side buttons on the left side.

At the top of the mouse, you’ll find a holographic area from where the “DM” logo shines. There’s another RGB zone near the bottom of this mouse. You can change the lighting by downloading the software from the official Dream Machines site.

To be perfectly honest, the RGB implementation is a weak point of this mouse. It does not come across well in pictures either. It looks better if you leave it with the color white in a static fashion or turn it off completely.

Fortunately, the clever hot-swappable mechanism sort of makes up for this shortcoming. 

Hot-Swappable Switches

This is a feature that makes the DM7 Switch Duo stand out from other wireless mice in its price range. We’ve seen this functionality before with some ASUS ROG mice, but apart from that, you don’t see this mechanism quite often. Here’s how it works.

Below the scroll wheel, you’ll notice a button with an interesting pattern on it. It looks like three buttons, but it’s just one. Hold down this button, and gently pull at the left mouse button from the front of the mouse. Do the same for the right one. Dream Machines, fortunately, includes paperwork in the box that explains how to do this.

After you’re done with that, you’ll see the switches under these buttons. They have an interesting mechanism similar to a tab. Push in on both tabs with your fingernails, and that will loosen the switch. Pull upwards toward you to remove the switch from the housing. 

To install a new switch, do all of these steps in reverse. Press down on the new switches, and they should click into the place. Grab the housing for the mouse buttons and slide them into place. Make sure to hold down the button near the scroll wheel when you’re doing this.

So, the entire mechanism is quite complex. The first time you do it, it will make you quite anxious. That was certainly the case when we tried it. Thankfully, you won’t be doing this all too often. They only created this mechanism just in case you encounter issues down the line.

Dream Machines is using Kailh GM 8.0 switches that are pre-installed. These are the ones you’ll want to use since they have a lifespan of 80 million clicks. You can buy Huano Blue Shell and Omron switches from them as well. 

Ergonomics and Comparison with DM6 Holey Series

The DM6 Holey S was the first mouse we reviewed from Dream Machines. That one features an ergonomic shape, and the comfort of that mouse is simply excellent. As for the DM7 Switch Duo, it features an ambidextrous shape but only features buttons on the right side. 

That doesn’t make it a true ambidextrous mouse, but it’s similar somewhat in shape to the Razer Viper and the Zowie FK1. Let’s take a look at how it compares to the DM6 Holey series.

First off, the DM6 series (DM6 Holey S and DM6 Duo) features a larger thumb rest area and a subtle curve near the right side. In comparison, the DM7 Duo feels noticeably “flat”. While there is a natural area underneath the side buttons for you to rest your thumb, the area feels smaller. Considering the matte black coating on this device, it also feels a bit slippery. 

However, the shape here is certainly quite safe. It works great with a claw grip, but even a palm grip would be perfectly fine with this mouse. Folks with medium to large hands will feel quite comfortable with this mouse. The overall finishing is quite good as well, even if the coating can feel a bit slippery at times.

The mouse feet are quite decent as well. They’re not as high quality as the PTFE feet we see in other high-end mice but it’s not much of an issue. This mouse glides well on most surfaces, and that’s enough for the majority of people. 

As for the weight, this mouse weighs about 65g, without the cable. Weight distribution is fine, and the chalky feel of the texture provides excellent precision and control. The surface does tend to pick up fingerprints but take decent care of it and that won’t be too much of a problem.

Scroll Wheel, Buttons, and Cable

Hot-swappable switches and other fancy features are cool, but it does not matter if you don’t get the basics right. Fortunately, Dream Machines have been at it for a while at this point, so they know what they’re doing. Still, it’s important to cover the basics. Let’s go over the scroll wheel and cable first. 

Some manufacturers tend to cheap out on the scroll wheel to cut costs. This doesn’t matter much to gamers, but if you scroll a lot, it’s annoying. Fortunately, the mouse wheel here is quite good. It feels buttery smooth yet has well-defined steps. It works great in games and browsing in general.  

Another great aspect of this mouse is the cable. Paracord-like cables are the gold standard these days, even in entry-level mice. This is a great trend and once you know what a good mouse cable feels like, it is hard to go back. The DM7 Switch Duo uses the same “shoelace cable” as the DM6 Holey S. It’s as light as a feather and you can barely tell it’s there for the most part.

Of course, this is a wireless mouse, so we don’t expect you to have the cable plugged in all the time. However, if you do want to use the cable, it’s of great quality.

Last but not least, the switches for the main mouse buttons feel great. These are Kailh GM 8.0 switches, and the feedback here is quite satisfying. They’re not too hard, but not as soft as Omron switches. Speaking of which, you can buy Omron switches from their site and swap them thanks to the modular design. 

You can also get the Huano Blue Shell switches from them as well. These switches are sharper and feel crisp. They are stiff, but the feedback is very clicky. However, they have a lower lifetime of 20 million clicks. You can pick and choose between what you think would suit you the best.

To wrap this section up, the side buttons also feel great on the DM7 Switch Duo. We’re unsure as to what switches they are using, but they feel like Omron switches. 

Sensor and Gaming Performance

The DM7 Switch Duo uses a Pixart 3370 gaming sensor. This is the same sensor used in a lot of high-end gaming mice, and it is simply excellent. Previously, the DM6 Holey S used the Pixart 3389 sensor. In all honesty, it is quite hard to tell the difference, as both sensors are incredible in terms of performance.

Gaming performance is excellent with this mouse. Once you get used to the shape, it’s smooth sailing from there. Tracking feels accurate, and your shots will land with precision. Of course, you can always adjust the DPI from the button that’s at the bottom, or from the software.

We have no real complaints with performance here, and the DM7 Switch Duo holds up for competitive games. However, there is one important thing to note here. Out of the box, the mouse uses a 500Hz polling rate. You’ll want to change this by going into the software and turning that up to 1000Hz. This will significantly decrease latency.

There’s no real reason as to why the mouse is at 500Hz out of the box. The polling rate doesn’t affect battery life much either. Either way, it’s a quick fix.

Software, Battery Life, and Wireless Performance

Previously Dream Machines had no working software when we reviewed the DM6 Holey S. In all honesty, that was not too much of an issue. Dream Machines designs their mice in a way that there’s no real need for software. You can change DPI from a button on the fly, and that’s all you need.

However, some people want to play around with RGB effects and lighting. You’ll also want to turn up the polling rate in the case of the DM7 Switch Duo. The software here is quite simple for the most part, and the menus are well-designed. It is intuitive and keeps things simple, which is what you want from peripheral software.

As for battery life, the mouse is rated for 72 hours of use. These claims fall in line with our testing, and 72 hours is good enough for a wireless gaming mouse. Realistically, you’ll only be charging this mouse once a week. Of course, this depends on how many hours you sit at your desk per day.

Finally, wireless performance is surprisingly good too. Wireless gaming mice have come a long way, and we didn’t feel any major dips in performance while gaming with the DM7 Switch Duo. Of course, there will always be some people who will prefer a wired mouse.

Fortunately, there’s a wired only version of this mouse as well, called the DM7 Switch. If you don’t need wireless connectivity, that mouse is essentially the same. 

Conclusion 

All things considered, the DM7 Switch Duo is a well-rounded gaming mouse. It’s easy to recommend it if you’re in the market for a wireless gaming mouse. The DM7 sticks to safe shape, one that will be comfortable to most people. However, it is a bit of a shame that it’s not as comfortable to the DM6 Holey S. Still, people who prefer an ambidextrous shape won’t complain too much here. 

The only con with this mouse is that the RGB doesn’t look good. You can likely tell from the pictures. However, that’s not a major dealbreaker considering everything else is solid. This is sort of like an all-rounder wireless gaming mouse.

It’s an excellent gaming mouse that is worth buying if you need something wireless. The modular hot-swappable design is just a bonus on top of that. However, it is a bit expensive, and might have trouble competing with bigger names in this price range.

We’re taking a look at the Ajazz AJ390 Gaming Mouse. At first glance, it looks very similar to the Glorious Model O, a lightweight gaming mouse that many love. Fortunately, there is more to the story here.

The AJ390 comes surprisingly close to the requirements of someone who needs a solid ambidextrous mouse. If you can get your hands on the AJ390, it might be worth taking a looking at. We’ll cover that and more in this in-depth review.

Unboxing Experience

Before we get into the details, let’s set the tone first. This mouse comes straight out of China, and an OEM is most likely manufacturing it. With that said, don’t let that turn you away from this mouse. It’s not fair if we judge a product purely based on its origin and price, so this entire review is an unbiased take.

With all of that said, the unboxing experience is quite solid. This was a decent surprise to us, as we weren’t expecting much. The front of the box has a red and black color scheme going on. We have the Ajazz logo and mouse branding on the front with the shiny silver font. Both the sides and the top of the box have similar branding. The back of the mouse has a picture of the mouse in white, along with all of the features. The premium unboxing experience was quite similar to the one we encountered in our Glorious Model D review.

As usual, the features have a short description written below them. You can open the box from the top, and pull out the cardboard sleeve inside. As for the accessories, you get the quickstart guide and another pair of Teflon mouse feet.

Removing the cable and the mouse from the cardboard sleeve is easy and relatively frustration-free. The mouse is wrapped in a soft material.

Design & Closer Look

In the introduction, we said that the AJ390 is quite similar to the Glorious Model O in a lot of ways. Well, the company is not trying to hide this fact either. When it comes to design and aesthetics, this AJ390 can be known as a replica (a very good one, in fact). It has the same honeycomb design with a perforated shell. It can be considered a far cry from traditional mouse designs, such as the one we saw in our Steelseries Sensei 10 review.

We all know by now that the honeycomb design serves one of two possible purposes. The first one is aesthetics, and the second one is to cut down on weight. It’s a bit of the both here for the Ajazz AJ390. While it weighs a bit more than the Model O at around 74g, it benefits from the similarities in aesthetics. This is a design we all know and love. It has RGB lighting on both sides, and even on the scroll wheel. We tried it on an RGB Mouse Pad, and it looked amazing.

Through the holes near the bottom, you can see a plastic bit that shows a glowing Ajazz logo inside. If you want to, you can crack open the mouse and remove the plastic bit to reduce the weight. We didn’t try that ourselves, so, do it at your own discretion.

There is a DPI button that is beneath the scroll wheel. On the bottom, we have four Teflon mouse feet, the PAW3338 sensor, a button for adjusting the RGB, and the built-in game mode (more on that later).

In terms of shape and profile, the Ajazz AJ390 is similar to other lightweight ambidextrous mice on the market. Some might say that it has a generic shape, and that’s a good thing meaning that the mouse is comfortable to use for most people. Since this is a mouse that is a relatively affordable competitor to the big names out there, the main question on everyone’s minds is if the build quality is any good. Well, you’ll be glad to know that it holds up for the most part. A similar design was seen in our Marsback Zephyr Pro RGB Mouse Review, so it seems like this design is trending nowadays.

There is no sidewall flex nor is there any noticeable wobble. But, if you pick the mouse up and shake it inside, you can notice a rattling sound. One last thing, you can buy this mouse in either white or black. We received both units, and they both look great. It’s all up to personal preference. The only issue with the design is the tacky AJ and Ajazz logos. Not quite a big deal, but it might ruffle some feathers for a few people.

I’m a Logitech G402 grip kind of person, and I think the Ajazz AJ90 has an ambidextrous shape. Fans of that style will feel right at home here. However, keep in mind that it only has buttons on the left side, so it’s not a “true” ambidextrous mouse. Surprisingly, the mouse feel is similar to the one we experienced in our Zowie EC1 review, just with a lighter weight.

The rear flare on this mouse is subdued compared to the Zowie FK1, but it follows most of the same basic principles. Even the buttons end at the same point, however, the base is a bit shorter here. It has a flat top with curved sides and a gradual slope from back to front. With that said, it does have better comfort grooves on the buttons. We’re sure that this design wasn’t intentional but it sure comes close to the FK1 and Glorious Model O.

Out of the box, the comfort is very close to being perfect. The mouse comes in at 69g, which is super lightweight for a mouse like this. Moving on, the mouse is perfect for both fingertip and claw grips. You can palm grip this mouse if you have medium or smaller-sized hands. However, our testing shows that fingertip and claw grips provide the best aim. We can say that this is a medium mouse so it can fit the bill for most people.

No matter the grip style or hand size, this mouse will be comfortable for most people. Thankfully, the honeycomb pattern doesn’t dig into your palm either. Some people might be sensitive to this thing, so it’s worth pointing out. Keep in mind that this pattern is on the lower side of the main buttons and the bottom as well.

Buttons, Scroll Wheel, and Cable

This is where the similarities between the Glorious Model O and the Ajazz AJ390 come to an end. Whether that’s for better or for worse is up to you. We’ll just list the facts for you. For starters, the buttons are very different compared to Omron Switches. Instead, the AJ390 uses Huano Blue Shell Blue Dot switches. This quality certainly doesn’t hold a candle to the quality we saw in our Steelseries Rival 600 review, for instance.

The clicks are somewhat heavy and loud. Again, some people might prefer this, while others will not. These switches have gold plating on them and are rated at 50m clicks. They require an actuation force of 70g or so. The click weight feels medium-heavy, but they do have a bit of pre-travel. In conclusion, these are great buttons if you like a mouse with heavy clicks.

Moving, on the scroll wheel is also quite good. The wheel rotation is smooth and has minimal tactile feedback. Other than that, the cable is flexible and lightweight but doesn’t come close to an aftermarket paracord cable. It gets the job done, don’t get us wrong, but we have definitely seen and felt better cables in the past.

We also might as well talk about the mouse feet in this category. They are your standard Teflon black feet. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Still, they track well and are very responsive. Of course, it’s unfair to compare these to hyperglide feet. It’s not near the quality of virgin-grade PTFE, but we can look past that for the price.

Sensor and Gaming Performance

The Ajazz AJ390 is equipped with a PMW 3338 sensor. Now, you might be surprised by this, but it’s hard to tell the difference between this and a 3360. Well, if you’re extremely familiar with a 3360 sensor, you might be able to tell the difference. But, the chances of that happening are very slim.

The sensor has a max DPI of 16,000 which is configurable in the software. It has a nominal acceleration of 40G, and a max tracking speed of 400IPS. Not bad at all, at least on paper. Fortunately, it also holds up in real performance. Combine the comfortable shape with this sensor, and we have a recipe for near-perfect gaming performance.

It’s easy to land headshots with this mouse, and after seeing it with our own eyes, the Ajazz AJ390 leaves us with quite a good impression. Any sort of anomalies like jitter and acceleration are not noticeable in our Ajazz AJ390 Lightweight Gaming Mouse review. However, we did have to tweak this with the software out of the box. For us, the mouse acceleration was enabled in software out of the box. This very well might have been an issue on our end.

However, once we got it working, we had little to no complaints. People who buy this mouse thinking it’s a cheap alternative are going to be impressed. You surely can’t expect much from a mouse this cheap, but the AJ390 manages to deliver on its promise of performance.

Software

The actual software for the mouse is not exactly easy. You can find their official website, but most of it is completely in Chinese. Of course, that’s nothing Google Translate can’t fix. You can also find the software if you search it on Google and do a bit of looking around.

Once the software is downloaded, you can do the usual stuff. You can configure anything you want in this software. As usual, you can change the polling rate, and increase or decrease the DPI in steps of 100. You can also configure the lighting by using the button located at the bottom of the mouse. Speaking of which, we have to address the elephant in the room.

At the bottom, just below the sensor, there is a button that you use to change the lighting. You can also use this button to turn on the game mode, which is interesting. Basically, this mode will run a recoil suppression script in some games. This works out of the box in PUBG, and you’ll have to configure it for certain games.

Now, there’s no way to spin it. This is a form of cheating. Games with strict anti-cheat systems like Overwatch, CS: GO (Also a mouse enthusiast’s realm), and others can pick up on this. You may or may not get a ban or restriction on your account. We highly advise against using this. Honestly, it’s a bit of a strange feature, and shouldn’t be the sole reason for you to get this mouse.

Conclusion

Overall in our Ajazz AJ390 Lightweight Gaming Mouse review, we found this mouse quite surprising and impressive in the end. Some might write this off as another Model O clone. While it’s not anything innovative, it doesn’t have to be a price that is under $25. It’s always great to have options. The design is decent, the build quality isn’t too bad, and the performance is up to par. If you want to save a few bucks on a good gaming mouse, this is one worth considering. That is if you can find it easily in your country. For fans of ambidextrous mice, this is an excellent value.

Newer companies like Glorious, Finalmouse are starting to make a name for themselves because of this. For example, Glorious has been around for a bit, they started getting real attention with their Model O gaming mouse which we reviewed earlier.

However, the market is starting to mature, and it’s happening quickly. Standing out is becoming a bit more difficult for newer companies. Marsback is taking that challenge head-on. Their newest release, the Zephyr Pro gaming mouse is an all-around solid pick for competitive gamers. Marsback also has a trick up its sleeve, this mouse has a built-in fan to cool your sweaty palms.

This is a one-of-a-kind feature and makes the mouse stand out on any desk. The Zephyr Pro is their second attempt. The original started out as a Kickstarter project and it left quite a bit of room for improvement. It turns out that the noise levels and vibration due to the fan were a bit much on the original.

We’re always keen on seeing smaller brands improve on their products, so let’s see what they were able to accomplish the second time around.

The Unboxing Experience

The gaming mouse market is a lot about appearance and design these days. This idea follows through with the packaging for most companies as well. Marsback is no different in this regard. The Zephyr Pro arrived in our hands in a bit of an unusual box. All of the contents inside the box are arranged vertically, and the box slides open by pulling it from the top as well.

The box itself has a fractal pattern all around, and the front of the box simply has the branding for the mouse. One side of the box says, “We think, we built, we dominate”; quite aggressive. On the back of the box, we have a silhouette of the mouse itself. Enough about the packaging, let’s see what we get inside.

First off you’ll be greeted with an envelope that serves as a welcoming card. This envelope includes two sticker packs, a welcome note, and a promo code as well. The mouse is tucked away vertically in a different compartment. You also get a thick pamphlet which is the user guide.

Design And Build Quality

First off, seeing the surprising quality is what impressed us the most about this mouse. I tried shaking it strongly to see if there is any rattle inside, but there’s no issue of that sort at all. It is impossible to notice any creaking or flexing on the shell itself. Fortunately, the side buttons are in a good position as well, and hard to hit accidentally while squeezing the mouse. More on the buttons later.

We get our two main buttons at the front, along with a scroll wheel that feels a bit familiar to other mice. Underneath we have the DPI button that is used to cycle between different steps. This can be configured in the software. Since this is an ambidextrous mouse, the only side buttons are the two on the left. There is a Marsback logo on the left that uses a minimal font for styling.

Instead of the usual honeycomb texture, we get what you might refer to as a fractal design all over the mouse. This is most likely so that the mouse stands out a bit from the plethora of honeycomb designs out there. It is present on the middle and sides of the mouse. We also get two buttons at the bottom of the mouse.

One is used to cycle through different RGB zones, and the other is used to turn the in-built fan on or off. It is not possible to change the speed of this fan.

Shape, Dimensions, and Comfort

The predecessor to this mouse had quite a distinct shape. A lot of people thought that the previous shape was a it outlandish. Due to this, the Zephyr Pro feels a bit more familiar if you’ve tried other lightweight gaming mice. It feels extremely similar to Glorious Model D as it is more rounded this time. It also has a taller rear hump which is reminiscent of a few Logitech mice. We also did an in-depth review of the Glorious Model D.

Depending on the grip style, the mouse can feel a bit large. This is because of the shape on the rear of the mouse. The main buttons also have a deep groove to them, which is something quite common in newer esports mice. The skeletal fractal pattern does not feel uncomfortable to the palms at all. While these holes are quite large, they do not interfere during use.

In terms of the grip, it is a safe shape so all three main grip styles should feel fine here. It is best suited to a palm or claw grip, but those with bigger hands might be able to fingertip this one. As a claw grip user, I found this mouse quite comfortable. It never made me feel as if I was missing shots due to the shape or design. In terms of comfort, we approve of the Zephyr Pro.

The Fan

The fan is by far the most outlandish feature on this mouse. To be perfectly honest, it’s just a cool bonus to have here on an otherwise excellent gaming mouse. It does not rattle all too much, nor does it make a lot of noise. Those were complaints we noticed on the original Kickstarter version of this mouse.

One feature missing here is the speed adjustment functionality. Before, you could set the fan to on, off, low, medium, and high settings. This time around it’s only on/off. Hold the fan button at the bottom of the mouse for three seconds to turn it off. So, the vibration effect is a bit noticeable but much more subtle. You’ll definitely need to get accustomed to the strange effect. Thankfully, you’ll get used to the feeling after a couple of days of use. However, the real question remains: Is it effective?

The real question is, is it supposed to be? While it does have a subtle effect, it is by no means a game-changing feature. Of course, if you absolutely demand a lot of airflows, this should help alleviate the pain of sweaty palms. However, the passive airflow through the holes already does the job quite well.

In my opinion, the fan here does what it says, it looks cool, and it serves as a neat party trick to show your friends. Since it doesn’t add extra cost to the mouse, I appreciate the feature.

Scroll Wheel, Feet, Buttons, and Cable

Let’s start off with the cable. As someone who cares about having a flexible and lightweight cable, I was pleasantly surprised here. The mouse features a paracord-like braided cable. It’s not exactly as good as other cables like the ones found on the HyperX Pulsefire Haste or Razer Viper, but it’s slightly above average.

Considering I don’t like the feel of most stock cables, that’s enough for me. I reckon there won’t be any complaints related to the cable when this reaches consumers. The measured length of this cable is 1.8m.

The Zephyr Pro gaming mouse uses black dyed PTFE feet that glide well on any mousepad. There is also a PTFE ring around the sensor to make sure that the glide is consistent. The mouse feels quick when moving around, despite the larger footprint.

Moving on, the main buttons on the mouse feel excellent. There is little to no pre-travel, while the post-travel is a bit moderate. The result is a firm and satisfying response on either click. These main triggers are separated from the shell, but there is fortunately little to no wiggle. They don’t feel stiff either. If you’re wondering about the switches, they are using mechanical Omron switches that are rated for 50 million clicks. Side buttons are also very good and feel satisfying.

Last but not least, the scroll wheel is also surprisingly good here. While it does produce a lot of noise, the steps have good separation which means tactility is quite good. The feel of the scroll wheel itself is flimsy, similar to Razer’s implementation. Considering the price, we can’t complain here.

Software and Lighting

Even most of the big-budget brands have terrible software implementations. You need to keep the software in the system tray for profiles to be saved, and they tend to hog memory as well. Fortunately, Marsback gets it right here. The software experience is lightweight and intuitive.

The options are separated by different tabs. These include key remapping, performance controls, lighting controls, and macro recording options. There is a lot of flexibility here. You can tweak the lift-off distance, DPI, click latency, polling rate, and more. The best feature of this software is the fact that you can reassign any of the physical keys to whatever you like.

Let’s move on to lighting. We get three physical lighting zone. One is the scroll wheel, the second one is the fan, and the final one is the strip going around the base of the mouse. The scroll wheel is linked to the DPI settings and can’t be changed. The other two zones are easily customizable. The RGB is plenty bright and we get pre-defined effects that can be changed through either the software or with the button on the bottom of the mouse.

Sensor and Performance

Quite honestly, there is not a whole lot to say here. The gaming experience is excellent with this mouse. It uses the PixArt PMW 3389 sensor, which is capable of up to 16,000 DPI. As I said, there’s not much to say here. The sensor is excellent and is just as good as what we have seen on other high-end mice.

The shape feels excellent when combined with a claw or palm grip, and taking headshots is easy thanks to the firm triggers. These PTFE feet glide quite smoothly as well. All aspects of this mouse come together to provide a great experience. In terms of performance, we have no complaints.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I was about to be quite quick to dismiss this mouse as another generic gaming peripheral with a new gimmick. While that’s the case for a lot of new companies, their products aren’t that great all around either. This is why the Zephyr Pro is so different. While the in-built fan is the headlining feature that will generate views for websites and reviewers, it ends up being a small bonus in the long run.

That’s why the XTRFY M4 is so interesting as a gaming mouse. It’s almost like a needle in a haystack and does not get much attention. However, don’t let that deter you from this excellent product. XTRFY is a Swedish company that adds a lot of personality to its products. That’s always refreshing to see in a world of generic/boring gaming peripherals. However, quality beats gimmicks any day of the week, and the M4 proves that philosophy as can be seen in our XTRFY M4 Gaming Mouse Review.

This is one of those mice that you know is designed by someone who plays a lot of games. The attention to detail and the clever design choices here are phenomenal. However, don’t just take our word for it. We’ll dive deep and show you the results this excellent gaming mouse puts out. So, here is our in-depth review of the XTRFY M4 in black.

Unboxing Experience

Nothing about the XTRFY M4 is boring or generic. Straight from the get-go, it makes a very strong impression. It arrives in a familiar-looking cardboard box, but with a black and yellow color scheme. The front of the box proudly shows a picture of the mouse itself.

The top right corner has the company’s logo, while the bottom right text announces the name of the mouse. Underneath that, we can see a “Designed In Sweden” stamp printed proudly.

The side of the mouse tells us about the construction and materials, while the other side has a side profile shot of the mouse. The back of the more briefly breaks down all of the features. You open the box by cutting the seals with a knife. Straight away, you’ll be greeted with the mouse itself. You will also notice two backlit ABS keycaps. One matches the color of the mouse, while the other one has a grey color. The former has XTRFY printed on it, while the latter says GG.

This is what we meant in the introduction that this mouse has a lot of personality to it. More on that later. Other than the mouse and keycaps, you get a user manual and an XTRFY sticker. You also get an extra pair of thick PTFE feet. One of these can be used around the sensor of the mouse. Apart from that, there’s nothing more to this unboxing.

Design and Closer Look

You can describe the XTRFY M4 in a couple of words: clever, quirky, or maybe even peculiar. However, the best word to describe this mouse is “thoughtful”. Right out of the box, you’ll notice that the mouse looks a bit familiar.

However, once you focus on it for a couple of seconds, you see what sets it apart from other lightweight gaming mice. For starters, it does have a skeletal design with holes in it. But it uses circular holes for the pattern instead of the hexagonal pattern.

The next thing you’ll notice is the shape. This thing is incredibly unique and different. It’s so peculiar that the company is trying to patent this shape. The mouse comes in several different colors, which is always a nice touch. You have black, white, and pink color options.

You can also pick up the retro edition, which has a color scheme similar to the original NES console. That colorway does look quite unique, but we have the black one here for review. Any of these colors look great, it’s just about the preference.

The mouse has a weight of 69g thanks to the skeletal design. The shell is smooth, comfortable, and grippy. Also, the side panels are thick and robust. The entire surface is matte and UV-coated. For the most part, the mouse does feel quite sturdy. There is minimal flex, but the earlier revisions had a tiny bit of creak to them. It’s not noticeable on our unit, and shouldn’t bother you in any way either. The design is a lightweight medium ergo shape.

It appears that the mouse is built for people with medium to large hands. We’ll talk more about grip styles and comfort later on. For now, let us talk about the RGB. This is perhaps one of the best implementations of RGB lighting we’ve seen on a gaming mouse. It starts from underneath the side buttons, goes around/under the front button, and then goes all way to the other side. The scroll wheel also has a small RGB strip running through it.

An XTRFY logo is visible underneath the shell, thanks to the circular pattern. That logo also glows and adds some flair to this already great-looking mouse. Near the scroll wheel, we have a button that controls the RGB. It has a few modes, some color options, and of course, brightness controls. The actual LEDs are on the PCB itself, and they bounce the light from these strips all around the mouse. This gives it that nice soft diffused look.

Comfort and Grip

The XTRFY M4 is an ergonomic gaming mouse. However, this does not mean that it has a generic ergonomic design. The reality is quite opposite. This mouse has quite a different shape, which makes it a bit difficult to talk about. Still, we’ll give it our best shot and you’ll get what we’re seeing with the help of some pictures. First off we’ll get the dimensions out of the way. The mouse is 120mm long, 56mm on the front flare, 68mm on the rear flare, 60mm at the grip. It has a height of 39mm, but from the desk to the scroll wheel it measures about 23mm.

It has low front triggers like the Zowie ZA series of mice. The curves are quite aggressive here, and it may take some getting used to for some people. It feels similar to a Zowie EC2A in size but with less of a hump. If you think the shape is for you, you will definitely fall in love with this mouse. It is perfect for people who like to use palm grip gaming mice and have medium-large hands. It is possible to fingertip grip this mouse, but most people will be comfortable with a palm grip.

This is undoubtedly a large mouse and we know that there is quite a huge market for that out there. The shape is unlike any other, and to the right person, it will feel incredible. However, the shape may come off as extremely aggressive to some people. The curves are quite pronounced, and while it’s perfectly suitable for palm grip, it will take some time to get used to it.

If you have used something like a Razer DeathAdder, Zowie EC1B, or a Rival 310, you’ll get used to it quickly. The sides are easy to grip, the curves make it comfortable to lift up, and it’s quite solid all around. However, if you’re someone who uses ambidextrous mice or smaller mice, this might feel unwieldy to move around for you.

Buttons, Scroll Wheel, and Cable

You can’t have a good mouse without a solid scroll wheel, buttons, and cables. We will begin by talking about the scroll wheel first here. Overall, the scroll wheel is quite outstanding. It is smooth and quiet. There is very little resistance here, which feels different from other mice we’ve seen and tested. It’s not quite clicky but has a smooth and low resistance to it. The wheel has 24 defined steps to it. The coating on this wheel is also near perfect. It looks good too, thanks to the rubber housing and RGB strip. If there ever was a near-perfect scroll wheel, this is the one.

Next, let’s talk about the cable. We’ve been spoiled for choice recently when it comes to mouse cables. There are so many great stock cables out there these days that it’s difficult to find a bad one. With that said, the cable here is good, but not particularly great. Some units have a looser weave to them, particularly the blue one. This gives the cable a smooth and flexible feel. However, we feel that the cable could have been a bit softer. They call this their EZcord and it has a length of 1.8m.

Finally, let’s talk about the buttons. All of the buttons here feel clicky and satisfying. The low front triggers are a nice touch, and they are easy to activate. The right button particularly feels great, as it has very little play to it. On the other hand, the left trigger does move around a bit. If you’re looking for this minor thing, you can notice it. It won’t impact performance in any way but may tick some people off. The switches here are Omron rated for 20 million clicks. Both of these switches have great pre and post-travel.

As for the side buttons, they are in a great position. The size and shape here are also excellent as they are easy to press but you won’t misclick on them. Both side buttons use Huano switches which means they are sharp and clicky. They have a bit of pre-travel to them, but nothing is intrusive here. They feel a bit floaty, but that’s a very minor complaint. The middle-click on the scroll wheel also uses a Huano switch.

Gaming Performance

You can have the best-looking mouse in the world with all of the bells and whistles, but if it doesn’t perform well, then what’s the point? Fortunately, the XTRFY M4 does not suffer from this. It focuses on performance instead of gimmicks here. Overall gaming performance is quite solid. Once you get used to the shape, you’ll be flicking solidly in no time.

The mouse uses a PixArt PMW 3389 optical sensor. This is a top optical sensor that we see in many different gaming mice for CSGO and other FPS gaming. It has eight different steps, and the default DPI is 1200. If you look at the bottom near the sensor, you’ll notice an XTRFY logo just above it. Underneath, we can see a microprinted text that says GLHF (good luck have fun). The DPI/CPI button is recessed from the bottom plate, and it uses an LED indicator. It has a max DPI of 16,000.

The polling rate is also adjustable thanks to a switch at the bottom of the mouse. There is no LOD adjustment here. As for the feet, they are thick and glide nicely. They feel a bit better than the stock feet on Zowie mice. These feet come close to Hyperglides in terms of smoothness. As for the internals, we have a sealed PCB with an ARM32 processor.

All of this comes together to provide a great gaming experience. The 3389 sensor performs quite well here. Tracking is precise and accurate, and you won’t be missing any shots with this mouse anytime soon. Overall, impressive stuff from XTRFY.

Simply put, there aren’t a lot of mice out there that are similar to this one. We are glad that Swedish companies are taking the fight against the big brands out there. XTRFY is not afraid to experiment, and that shows with the M4.

The M4 is one of those products that gets nearly everything right. The build quality is great, design-wise it looks incredible, and the performance is up to par. One small issue is the fact that the shape will take some getting used to, and it certainly won’t be for everyone. This is by no means a flawless mouse, but it is one of the best we’ve tested yet. If you’re looking for a lightweight ergonomic gaming mouse, this is one worth putting on your list.

The HyperX PulseFire Haste is one of these excellent lightweight gaming mice. However, considering the competitive price, it just might be the mouse to beat. HyperX’s success mostly comes from its excellent gaming headsets. The HyperX Cloud II, Cloud Alpha, and Cloud Revolver are a few great examples. 

Their Pulsefire lineup has been around for a long time as well. With the release of the Pulsefire Haste, HyperX wants to tap into the demand for lightweight gaming mice. Fortunately, they have got the fundamentals just right. You’ll find out if this mouse is worth it in this in-depth review.

Unboxing Experience

HyperX usually has a simple and frustration-free unboxing experience. Hence, the Pulsefire Haste is no exception to this as unboxing it is quite a simple affair. The front of the box has pictures of the mouse itself, and a few standout features printed towards the left side of that picture. 

On the bottom right, the box shows that it is compatible with PC, PS4, and Xbox One. This is interesting, as both consoles have added mouse support now and the Haste should work with those. We primarily did our testing on PC, of course. The backside of the box lists all of the specifications in several different languages.

After opening the box, you’ll be greeted by black cardboard sleeves. The mouse sits on top of this, surrounded by a plastic shell. Inside the box, we have some paperwork and a user manual. HyperX includes extra PTFE feet as well. They also added grip tape that you can stick to the sides and the primary buttons of the mouse.

Considering the price, this is a welcome addition. Many mice don’t come with any of this stuff, so it feels great that HyperX thought of this. Finally, we’re greeted by the mouse itself. It makes quite the first impression with its incredibly lightweight body. Even the entire box with the mouse itself feels lightweight.

Design and Build Quality

Most of the time, when a company goes for the honeycomb design, it’s either about aesthetics or about shedding some weight. It looks like both of these things apply here for the HyperX Pulsefire Haste. This mouse doesn’t stand out too much from the crowd, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. 

The honeycomb pattern is mostly on the main body of the mouse, right below the primary mouse buttons. A small area of the left and right buttons has this pattern as well, but it doesn’t creep up to the area where your fingers would normally sit. We’re glad that the pattern doesn’t exist on the side grips.

Usually, companies go all out with the honeycomb design, and while it makes the mouse lighter, it doesn’t feel all that comfortable. Thankfully, that’s not the case with the HyperX Pulsefire Haste. As for RGB, the only illuminated zone is near the scroll wheel. This can be controlled with software, and the RGB changes when you switch the DPI.

When manufacturers go for the lightweight design, corners are cut in the build quality at times. This Pulsefire Haste doesn’t have any of those issues. We tested the mouse by squeezing it from both sides, it has no creaks to speak off. This is great to see in a lightweight gaming mouse. Despite weighing in at 59g, this thing is built quite well.

Comfort and Grip

In terms of comfort and grip, it’s a bit similar to the Razer Viper Ultimate. Like that mouse, this is also what you might call a “false ambidextrous” shape. So what does that mean? Well, it means that while this is an ambidextrous shape, it doesn’t have any side buttons on the right side of the mouse.

As mentioned before, this mouse weighs 59g give or take with the cable. The length is 124.2mm, the width is 66.8mm, and the height is 38.2mm. There is a hump or curve right in the middle of the mouse, similar to a Logitech G Pro. However, the arch isn’t as aggressive as other mice. It slopes off very gradually. 

As you can probably guess, it’s quite a safe shape and easy to get used to. It doesn’t lock you into an aggressive shape like an ergonomic mouse would, and feels easy to pick up and play with. Of course, different people prefer different shapes. However, we feel 90% of users won’t have any complaints here. 

There are grooves on the mouse buttons so that your fingers can sit comfortably on there. As for size, well it feels a bit similar in size to the Viper Ultimate. People with small to medium hands will feel right at home here, with any grip. Palm grip with larger hands might be a bit difficult, but fingertip and claw grips feel excellent. 

The texture of the mouse feels a bit slippery during the first impression. However, that falls in line with the slick and fast theme of the mouse they were trying to go for. If you feel like you need a bit more grip, the included side grips are excellent. 

These grips feel soft and smooth, and they look great on the mouse as well. They feel cozy and aren’t hard or rough as we’ve seen with other mice. Most people don’t use grips on the mouse buttons, but if you want to, HyperX gives you the option to do so.

Buttons, Scroll Wheel, and Cable

You can have the lightest mouse in the world, but if the buttons, scroll wheel, and cable don’t feel good, then it’s all for nothing. Fortunately, the Pulsefire Haste doesn’t fall victim to this. It’s a solid mouse in all of these departments through and through. 

First off, we are immediately impressed with the cable. HyperX is calling it a HyperFlex cable, and it feels similar to what a custom paracord would feel like. This cable is flexible, soft, and easy to maneuver. The way that cable feels while moving around is better than what we’ve seen in most gaming mice out there.

The primary buttons here are not Omron. Instead, HyperX is using TTC Golden micro-switches for the buttons. They feel crispy and sharp, and a bit louder than your average Omron switch. Overall, the main buttons are satisfying, responsive, and a joy to use. 

As for the side buttons, they are located in the perfect position as well. They have a little bit of a gap between them, so they feel distinctive from each other. They are nice and crispy and don’t have many posts or pre-travel. However, they feel a bit sharp and require a bit of a harder press than what you might be used to. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as it prevents accidental clicks, but takes some time to figure out.

The scroll wheel is the only area of the mouse that features any sort of RGB. It has that usual texture design, and the steps are well defined as well. Overall, the scroll wheel isn’t anything out of the ordinary, but it gets the job done. 

Sensor and Gaming Performance

The Pulsefire Haste uses a Pixart PMW 3335 sensor. It is located right in the center, so it is balanced perfectly. Think of the 3335 as a low powered alternative to the 3360 sensors. In layman’s terms, there’s little to no noticeable difference between the two. This mouse has 16 thousand DPI and holds its accuracy quite well in those higher settings. 

Now, mind you, we doubt anyone is using a mouse at a DPI level over four thousand for the average use case. If you are someone who uses 800-1200 DPI in most games, this mouse will feel right at home. Even at a higher sensitivity, it manages to retain its accuracy but you will notice a difference. However, that’s true for nearly any gaming mouse out there.

Overall, tracking and precision with this mouse are excellent. The main buttons are responsive and actuate perfectly. The PTFE feet at the bottom are also smooth as butter and glide easily on the mousepad. This mouse flexes its muscles when you have to hold your shots perfectly.

That becomes quickly apparent in a game like Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and even in Apex Legends. You have to hold your shots right on the opponent, and one-shotting isn’t common in either of those games. Holding shots is great with this mouse. 

If you’re the type who plays faster-paced games, flicks and one-taps also feel right on point. You can flick and fire fast shots easily with this mouse. It’s a great performer in most FPS games. No matter what game you throw at it, this thing is going to keep up tremendously well.

Software

We’re not fans of installing several different apps for different peripherals. Especially if the software feels like a buggy mess. With that said, HyperX’s Ngenuity software is easy to use and hasn’t crashed on us once. Note that you have to download it from the Windows Store, but apart from that, it’s quite conventional. 

You can, of course, adjust your DPI and the opacity and color of the RGB zone on the scroll wheel. Other than that you can reassign buttons, change the polling rate, and save custom presets inside the software. The UI is minimal, sleek, and doesn’t get in your way. We can’t really ask for more.

Final Thoughts

The Pulsefire Haste can compete with most gaming mice out there. Especially if we consider the price. It does everything you want it to. The buttons feel great, the feet are smooth, and the cable is one of the better ones we’ve seen in a while. 

It also holds up in performance, which is all that matters at the end of the day. A minor complaint is that the side buttons take some getting used to, but that’s not a major dealbreaker.

Overall the Pulsefire Haste is an impressive gaming mouse for the price it comes in at. It may be light on features, but it makes up for that by focusing on pure performance instead. This is a no-frills gaming mouse, and we can respect that wholeheartedly. In late 2020, it faces a lot of competition, but we think it holds its own. If you’re looking for a lightweight gaming mouse at a decent price, the Pulsefire Haste is worth taking a look at.

Because of that, we are seeing new companies pop-up all the time. Glorious, G.Wolves, and EndGame Gear are a few examples. Another one happens to be Dream Machines. Dream Machines is heavily underrated, as they make great gaming peripherals and laptops. We feel it’s important to get the word out, as it is always great to have options for the consumer.

With all of that said, we are confident that the Dream Machines DM6 Holey S is a gaming mouse that is worth your attention. It has a lightweight design, great comfort, and a few tricks up its sleeve. In this in-depth review, you’ll understand why we are impressed with this mouse so much.

Packaging and Box Contents

We have a lot to talk about when it comes to the Dream Machines DM6 Holey S. However, we need to get the unboxing out of the way first. Coming from a small company in Poland, we were quite frankly impressed with the decent unboxing experience here. The box is small, compact, and stylish. We can easily see this placed proudly on a shelf.

On the front, a picture of the DM6 Holey S is clearly visible. A hexagon or honeycomb-style background accents the picture. This pattern is similar to what you’ll find on the chassis of the mouse. Unboxing is easy and frustration-free. The top portion of the box pulls out to reveal the mouse inside, which is tucked away in soft packaging.

Finally, we are greeted by some paperwork, the cable, and the mouse itself. There aren’t any extra accessories in the box, but we’re not disappointed with that for the price point.

Design And Build Quality

One of the more unique aspects of this mouse is the shape, and we’ll talk about that along with the comfort and grip style later on. For now, we are taking a quick look at the design language and overall build quality. Aesthetically speaking, Dream Machines utilizes a modern design here. Visually, it is quite similar to other mice that have a honeycomb design.

This isn’t a bad thing at all, especially if you like this type of design. All of that is a personal preference, of course. Personally, I think the stealthy black look with a very minimal logo at the top gives this mouse a sleek look. The honeycomb pattern is iconic and easily recognizable. In some places, the hexagon shape is cut in half due to size restrictions, but it still manages to look uniform.

The minimal logo we mentioned before simply says “DM” and stands out just a bit because of the white font. Again, we are fans of this style. As for the shape, the left button or the left area is ever so slightly raised compared to the right. This is what gives the mouse its ergonomic shape and makes it tailored for right-handed users. We’ll take more about this in the next section.

Like other lightweight ergonomic mice, this one has a small hump in the center rather than in the rear. This gradual slope indicates that this is suited for fans of the ergo shape. Other than that, we have side buttons only on the left side, and a DPI button below the scroll wheel. Before we move on, it’s important to mention that this mouse is built like a tank. It doesn’t have any weak points and feels well built all around.

Comfort And Grip

Before I start praising this mouse for comfort and grip, it is important to give a bit of background here. Previously, my favorite shape was the Logitech G703 and subsequently the G603 and G403 as well. This is all subjective, but that’s the shape that works best for me. That is until I got my hands on the DM6 Holey S. I find that I can aim significantly better with this mouse, here’s why:

Compared to the Logitech mice I was using previously, the DM6 Holey S is a smaller mouse. While the G703 might be unwieldy for someone with smaller hands, it is possible with the DM6. Medium-large hands will feel right at home here as well. However, the ergonomics feel noticeably better here.

I use a claw grip for gaming most of the time, and this mouse is perfect for that. It’s not like other grips will feel strange either, as the shape is quite safe. The slight curves are excellent for gripping the mouse. Due to the shape and size, it can work for fingertip grip and might be even better for palm grip. It is also quite lightweight and comes in at 69g.

Furthermore, the thumb rest also feels comfortable, and it is in a perfect position. The honeycomb pattern doesn’t interfere with the button area, so it feels appropriate in the hand. However, the left and the right side does have a honeycomb pattern. Surprisingly, this doesn’t interfere with comfort at all.

This is largely due to the uniform feel all around, and the excellent finishing and materials present here. Personally, I prefer the matte texture this mouse has over a glossy finish, although your mileage may vary. A very minor thing to note is that this surface does pick up fingerprints. However, if you take decent care of it, it shouldn’t be a problem.

The matte texture has a chalky feel to it, which helps even more in gripping the mouse properly. I never felt like I lost control of this mouse while playing. Overall, it gets an A+ in terms of comfort.

Mouse Feet, Scroll Wheel, And Cable

Normally, we like to mention the mouse buttons in this section as well. However, seeing as the buttons are the standout feature for this mouse, we’ll cover that in-depth in the next section. For now, let’s quickly go over the scroll wheel and cable.

Dream Machines state that this mouse is lighter, faster, and better compared to their previous entries. They say all of that boldly on their website. Well, you can’t have a mouse-like that and have a cheap cable. We’re glad that the paracord-like cables are now the gold standard, even in cheaper mice.

They call this one a “shoelace cable”, and it’s as light as a feather. Most of the time, I can barely tell that it is even there. There’s little to no cable drag, and the weight doesn’t get in the way. You can’t ask for more from a mouse like this.

A lot of the time, manufacturers cheap out on the scroll wheel to cut corners. Fortunately, the scroll wheel for this mouse is perfectly adequate. It feels smooth and works great in both gaming and browsing.

Finally, the mouse feet are Teflon instead of the new PTFE material we see in high-end lightweight mice. With that said, we don’t feel like this is an issue. The mouse glides like butter on the mousepad, and that’s all that matters at the end of the day.

Huano Buttons

2020 looks like it is the year of lightweight gaming mice. For the foreseeable future, that’s not going to change quickly either. However, it’s tough to stand out when companies are competing for the title of the lightest gaming mouse. The DM6 Holey S has a standout feature that sets it apart: the extra crisp Huano buttons.

So what does that mean for the player? Well, most gaming mice use Omron switches for the primary buttons. These are the standard mechanical clicky switches we’ve seen time and time again. However, these Huano buttons are sharper, crispier, and help for FPS games. They are extremely satisfying and have a lifetime of 20 million clicks.

The left mouse button requires more actuation force than your average gaming mouse. This is incredible for FPS games. Long story short, the balance is phenomenal and feels perfect. It’s light enough that it does not feel uncomfortable, but hard enough to ensure that you don’t accidentally shoot.

Furthermore, the right mouse button feels even sharper to us. This was surprising, and even more so when it proves its worth. You won’t open the scope or accidentally remove the silencer with this button, that’s for sure.

So, to put it briefly, the Huano buttons feel crisp and precise. The main focus is that all of your shots can land on the opponent, and the Huano buttons help with that. We find that this mouse improved our game especially well. We’ll talk about that more in the performance section.

Sensor and Gaming Performance

The DM6 from Dream Machines comes in two versions. Our version is the DM6 Holey S, which uses the newer Pixart PMW 3389 sensor. The other version is simply called the DM6 Holey, and it uses the tried and true Pixart PMW 3360 sensors. Both of these are top of the line and feel excellent.

The Pixart 3389 feels natural, and that’s what matters when you’re in the heat of the moment. Tracking feels precise, and it feels flawless. You can adjust the DPI with a button right beneath the scroll wheel. Speaking of which, the sensor feels excellent in both high and low DPI. Even the liftoff distance is superb. We don’t have any complaints about performance, and it easily gets a 10/10 from us in this department.

Again, the lightweight body, the smooth texture, and the Huano buttons come into play here. This weight helps in maneuvering this mouse quickly, the shape provides a solid grip, and the Huano buttons punch above their weight. It’s surprising to say that this mouse can go head to head with those that cost twice as much, but it truly accomplishes that.

Software/Feature

It’s important to note that for some reason, you can’t currently download the Software for the DM6 Holey S. If you go to the product page or the website, it says “soon” in the download section. We can only presume that software support will be available in the future.

However, you can change the Polling Rate of the mouse with its hardware buttons present below the mouse. You can also turn on/off the LED light that indicates the DPI levels. So, ultimately you don’t even need any type of software to modify these basic things.

Conclusion

All in all, this is a solid gaming mouse, and easily our recommendation to everyone. The shape is excellent for people who are fans of ergonomic gaming mice. Ambidextrous lovers might feel left out here, but the shape is easy to get used to and we think it’s worth giving a shot. The Huano buttons are a standout feature here, and it’s surprising how useful they are.

There are few instances where gaming mice can improve your aim, this might be one of those instances. Of course, things like comfort and shape preference will vary from person to person. However, considering the competitive price, we think the DM6 Holey S is an excellent gaming mouse to buy in 2020.

Fast reaction speeds, perfect timing, and teamwork are all important things. Every single shot counts, so you’ll need a great gaming mouse for that. Of course, everyone is different so comfort can be subjective. You need a mouse that sits in your hand, and one that you can quickly adapt to.

Finding the perfect mouse just for yourself is not an easy feat to accomplish. However, it would help if the mouse was extremely versatile. This is where the Rival 600 comes in. SteelSeries knows a thing or two about accurate mice, and you’ll see them on grand Esport stages as well. So let’s say what they have to offer with the Rival 600 gaming mouse.

Packaging and Box Contents

The unboxing experience is quite familiar if you have ever owned a SteelSeries product in the past. This is especially true on the exterior of the box, which has the iconic white and orange them going on. The front has a picture of the mouse itself, along with a couple of features printed on the left bottom corner. We will of course talk about those later in this review.

On the left, we have another picture of the box, and the back shows us how the customizable weights function works. Meanwhile, the right of the box has all of the specs listed neatly. After cracking it open, we’ll be greeted with another hardcover box. They have some nice motivational text listed on the front of this, which says “Rise UP”.

Open this black box, and we have the Rival 600 sitting in all of its glory. Inside a black cardboard sleeve, we can see the detachable cable and the customizable weights. Apart from that, we have the usual user manual and paperwork. 

Design and Build Quality

We’ll be talking about comfort and grip style later on. For now, let’s take a quick look at the design language and the construction. Design-wise, SteelSeries has gone for a modern look here. It does have a conventional shape, which is simple yet effective. We are fans of the subtle two-tone look going on here.

A SteelSeries logo is present at the lower half of the mouse. Instead of edge lighting, SteelSeries added two straight lines on each side of the mouse that serve as lighting zones. It looks futuristic and alluring. The coating on the buttons and side grips is a smooth silicone texture. Plastic is present here, but only in the middle area of the mouse.

The side sections of the mouse are magnetic, and they pop out when you apply force from the bottom of the mouse. This is a clever design scheme since you’ll have to pick up to mouse to remove these sides. This way, the sides won’t break apart during gaming. Removing the sides will reveal four pockets on each side that are for weight adjustments.

The weights can sit snugly inside a small rubber pouch. This pouch can be looped around your mouse cable, so you’ll never lose it. Again, this is the attention to detail that we love from SteelSeries. The rubber pouch includes 4g weights, and you can pop in all 8 of them if need be.

Without the weights, the mouse weighs in at 96g. It is a bit heavier than SteelSeries own Rival 310. In 2020, that isn’t exactly the lightest construction these days. However, the weight will be comfortable for more than 95% of users out there. With all of the weights added, you can bring the total weight of the mouse up to 128g. 

You can play around with the weights a lot to improve balance and even your playstyle. We’ll be going in-depth about this later on. Overall, the Rival 600 feels solid and it is built well. It also looks quite good thanks to the RGB lighting. It is quite bright, and highly customizable inside of SteelSeries software. 

Comfort and Grip

Let’s talk about the shape of this mouse. It is intended for right-handed users, as it is an ergonomic gaming mouse. This mouse has excellent comfort grooves that feel amazing. They have a great curve to them, so the fingers feel like they sit there naturally. Apart from that, the shape is quite straight, nothing too ambitious. Speaking of which, that’s one of the many reasons that this is an excellent mouse.

The straight shape means that it’s quite safe as anyone can get used to it. You can easily find a way to grip it comfortably, no matter your style or hand size. The sides have soft rubber grips, which create a great texture against the thumb. However, because of the removable sides, the thumb does feel like it sits a bit hollow in this area. Nothing major, but worth pointing out. 

The rear of the mouse has a nice curve to it, with slight angles. We think it’s more comfortable than the Rival 310. While this is a large mouse, the width at the top makes it feel a bit smaller than it is. The back of the mouse tapers in more than other mice, which might have an effect on palm grip.

However, we used this mouse extensively in palm grip while working, and switched to claw grip for gaming. Palm grip feels a bit relaxed for gaming, so it’s great to see this mouse supports claw grip perfectly.

Buttons, Scroll Wheel, And Cable

SteelSeries is known for making excellent buttons for their gaming mice. However, there are a few key differences and changes here that are important to talk about. First, let’s get the cable and scroll wheel out of the way. The cable is detachable, but it is not a braided one. It is a rubberized USB 2.0 cable that uses a micro-USB connection to work with the mouse. 

The scroll wheel is quite stylized, and we’ve seen this design in previous mice from the company. Scrolling feels great on this mouse, which is a relief since this is something a lot of gaming mice can’t get right. It has a fantastic texture and tactile middle grip. The DPI button is right below it, which makes it easier to access.

Finally, let’s talk about these buttons. The primary buttons have an audible actuation, but they are thankfully a bit muted. With that said they are very satisfying thanks to the travel distance and crisp pressure. The side buttons are quite thin on the left side. Fortunately, they are easy to press and feel just as sharp as the primary buttons. 

There is a third button present on the left side as well. Some people might call this a “Sniper button”. Unfortunately, it is a bit hard to reach and can mess up your grip if you go for this button. 

Weight Adjustment

Usually, not many people care for weight adjustment. For most gaming mice, it’s more of a hassle than anything. However, the Rival 600 gets it just right enough for us to care about this feature. For starters, if you feel like the mouse is too light, you can add weights to your liking.

But that’s the most basic level of customization. Let’s say you are playing a shooter and you need to land flick shots. If you lean the mouse to the right or left too much, you can add weights to the opposite side. This way, the weights will act against your natural style of play. Eventually, this will force you to make your aim better than it was before.

Of course, there are different levels of configuration you can go with. You can only fill the last two rows with weights to make it rear heavy, and vice versa. There are a lot of possibilities here. You can easily fine-tune the mouse to your liking. 

Sensor And Gaming Performance

Arguably the best part about this excellent gaming mouse is the sensor itself. It uses the same TrueMove 3 optical sensor found in the rival 310. This sensor is a joy to use and delivers true one-to-one tracking for the whole sensitivity range. Speaking of which, the CPI is adjustment is from 100 to 12000. It feels very similar to the Pixart 3310 sensor.

The sensor feels natural, and that’s what matters at the end of the day. SteelSeries added an entirely different sensor for accurate liftoff distance control. This means that unwanted cursor movement while lifting the mouse is less of an issue. Surprisingly, this sensor is extremely accurate and is much more than just a marketing gimmick. So yes, there is an actual benefit to it and it shows that with its great performance. 

Gaming feels incredible with this mouse. Flicks and motion feel tight and controlled. On the other hand, quick aim adjustment makes it very comfortable. The overall tracking is also phenomenal. All in all, this is an excellent gaming mouse when it comes to performance. 

Software

As you might have noticed, the entire theme around this mouse is customization and versatility. That same ideology can be found in the software. SteelSeries Engine 3 is one of the better software tools out there. Before we even get into the features, we have to applaud it for its hassle-free performance. A lot of gaming mice have horrible buggy software, so this one is like a breath of fresh air. 

The menus are well designed and not confusing at all. The main settings are all in one panel. On the left menu, you can reassign any of the mouse buttons. You can even invert scrolling through this menu. 

On the right, we can adjust the 8 lighting zones available on this mouse. However, we would personally leave it to one static color, as the gradient on the strip isn’t that smooth. You can adjust acceleration and deceleration, angle snapping, and the polling rate. You can also configure the liftoff distance tracking.

Overall, the seamless software integration is just the icing on the cake for this excellent gaming mouse.

Conclusion

SteelSeries has something quite special on their hands here. While gaming mice are following a new trend of going ultra-lightweight, the Rival 600 manages to stand out. Very few of these mice have the accuracy, versatility, and customization of the Rival 600. It’s not all perfect, as we’re not the biggest fans of the thin side buttons. 

Other than that you can only set two CPI levels which may bother some folks. Installing the weighs is a bit finicky, but that’s not a dealbreaker. Considering those are all extremely minor issues, we feel like the Rival 600 still retains its value, even in 2020.

You can tell that this is the result of SteelSeries listening to their customers and giving them what they want. If you like the shape of the Rival 600, we wholeheartedly recommend it.
